Broccoli with Brown Butter Pecans

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups broccoli florets
  2. 2 tbsp butter
  3. 2 shallots, chopped
  4. 1 clove garlic, minced
  5. 1/4 cup pecans, chopped and toasted
  6. 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  7. salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over medium heat and add the broccoli.
  • Boil briefly until tender-crisp and bright green, about 3 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shallots, garlic, red pepper flakes and pecans, and saute until the shallots and garlic are tender, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Stir until the butter starts to brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the broccoli. Using tongs, toss the broccoli with the butter and pecans.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
